Karen, founder of Lakeside Wood Signs, surrounded by her handcrafted signs

Hi, I'm Karen

I'm the hands and heart behind Lakeside Wood Signs. What started as a creative outlet, just me, some paint, a few scraps of wood, and a vision to explore my creative side, slowly turned into something I truly love: creating pieces that make a house feel like home.

I'm inspired by family being everything, lake days and cozy spaces, gardens that bloom, and yes… when in doubt, drink more mimosas.

Every sign is handmade with intention. Lots of stain, paint, and stencils, and yes, sometimes paint on my clothes and hands too. It can get messy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

At its heart, this is about more than signs. It's about the families, the memories, the laughter, and the meaningful stories behind the custom pieces you trust me to create. Those are truly some of my favorites.

I'm so grateful you're here and part of this creative journey. I can't wait to keep sharing the signs, the stories, and all the meaningful pieces still to come.

~ Karen

What Matters Here

How I Work

Small shop, big heart. Here's what you can always count on.

You Talk to the Maker

No middlemen, no ticket systems. When you reach out, you're talking directly to the person who will make your sign.

Quality Materials

Premium pine is my go-to, a beautiful, versatile wood I know inside and out. Occasionally I'll work with a rustic scrap piece or something unique I stumble across at a craft store. Half the fun is the hunt!

Made to Last

Most signs are crafted for indoor display. For the occasional outdoor piece, I apply a protective coating to shield the paint and keep it looking great season after season.

Any Size

Sizing is based on what wood is available. Just share what you have in mind and we'll work out the right dimensions together.

How It Works

From Your Idea to Your Door

Custom sign-making sounds involved, but I keep it simple. Here's what to expect from start to finish.

1

Send Me Your Idea

Fill out the contact form (or just email) with your text, approximate size, and any finish preferences. Nothing too detailed needed. I'm good at asking the right questions.

2

I Send a Design Proof

Within a day or two, you'll see exactly how your sign will look. We go back and forth until you love it, then you give the green light.

3

I Build It by Hand

Once approved, I get to work. Most signs are ready in 2–3 weeks. I'll keep you posted along the way.

4

Delivery or Local Pickup

Signs under 3 feet ship anywhere in the US, carefully wrapped and packed. Signs larger than 3 feet are available for local pickup in Southern NH. Oversized shipping gets expensive, and I'd rather be upfront about that. Hanging hardware and care instructions come with every order.
